Update on Extension, CEWS, CERB, TWS, Disability Payment, and New Programs – August 27, 2020

A kind reminder that income tax payments and instalments for personal and corporate income taxes have been extended to September 30, for any payments and/or instalments that would have ordinarily been due on or after March 18 and before September 30.
On August 15, 2020, the CRA announced that they had suffered a security breach which affected GCKey services and CRA accounts. There were 9,041 affected accounts that were used fraudulently to access government services. The attackers used passwords and usernames collected from other breaches, and they took advantage of the fact that many people reuse passwords and usernames across multiple accounts. This highlights the importance of using unique username and passwords when using different accounts. For more information, please visit this website.
